Posters for a dorm room

A dorm wall has constraints a living room does not. It is small, it is probably painted a colour you did not choose, you are not allowed to make holes in it, and whatever goes up has to come down in June.

Sizes first: A3 and 30 × 40 cm are the sweet spot. Ready-made frames in those sizes cost very little, and both fit flat in a case for the move home. Skip anything above A2 unless you have a genuinely big wall.

Hanging without damage: removable adhesive strips hold a framed A3 comfortably if you press them for the full thirty seconds the instructions ask for. For unframed prints, washi tape along the top edge only lets the paper hang naturally and peels off plaster without taking paint. Avoid putty — it stains over a year.
